Collective Worship

As a Church school, Collective Worship is an important time during which we can share in celebrating God’s love and learning more about our Christian faith through stories, songs, drama and prayer. We also celebrate the traditions of other religions in order for children to become more understanding of the beliefs of others.

Every Friday within Collective Worship we also acknowledge and reward the children for achievements both in and out of school, promoting the ethos of the school that all children are valued and learning is celebrated.  School awards include Golden Marbles.

At our school, collective worship is a special time each day when we come together as a family of children and staff. We follow a four-part pattern of worship that helps us to reflect, learn, and grow together in faith and friendship.

Our Four-Part Worship

  1. Gather – We come together as a school family and light our candles, marking the beginning of our worship.
  2. Engage – We share the main message or story, exploring themes from the Bible, our school values, or key Christian festivals.
  3. Respond – We reflect and respond through words, song, prayer, or quiet reflection
  4. Send – We finish our time together, snuffing the candles as a sign that we go out to live what we have learned.

Our RE Ambassadors take a special role in worship by managing the candle rota, ensuring the candles are lit and snuffed each day.

 Inclusive, Invitational, Inspiring

Our collective worship is designed to be inclusive, invitational, and inspiring.
It follows the Christian tradition while being welcoming to everyone, whatever their background or belief.
Through our worship, we explore our school’s core Christian values of love, hope, honesty, trust, forgiveness, and friendship.

Living Our Christian Vision

Our school’s Christian vision —

“Love your neighbour as yourself so we can all aspire, believe, achieve to be the very best that we can be.”

is at the heart of all we do.  We aim for every child to think deeply, grow spiritually and morally, and live out our values in everyday life.

We are blessed to have Reverend Elaine join us each month for worship in school. Once every half term, she also leads a family collective worship in church, bringing our wider community together.
